What is Authority to Fundraise?
To onboard with JustGiving®, we require the authority to fundraise or exemption to fundraise in the state/s and/or territories in which you seek to raise money. Because fundraising laws are under state jurisdiction, you must look to the state in which you would like to actively fundraise in:

Australian Capital Territory
From 1 July 2017, charities that fundraise in the ACT are no longer required to hold a charitable collections license. Visit this page for more information.

Generally, state government schools, schools affiliated with religious denominations, and P&C organisations are exempt from this requirement. For further information, view https://www.acnc.gov.au or the state regulatory authority. For help, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All non-governmental charity and school organisations are required by the Australian Government’s Education Act to nominate Responsible Persons: individuals who are officially nominated and commit to responsible for governing and acting in the best interest of an organisation. Generally, an organisation’s Responsible Persons are its board, committee members, or trustees (including insolvency trustees or administrators). Because of this critical responsibility, it’s required that we verify all Responsible Persons as part of our onboarding process. This ensures only verified and trusted persons can change bank account details and other important information. Visit this page for more information.

Why do I need to provide identification?
Identification is required to comply with the Australian Government’s Anti-Money Laundering and Know-Your-Customer policies. This helps ensure our customers’ safety and provides peace of mind to our customers, fundraisers, and donors, ensuring their generous donations will reach their intended beneficiaries.
Do you need our Responsible Persons’ information even if they aren’t responsible for fundraising?
Though your Responsible Persons may not be involved in fundraising, the ACNC needs this information because legislation requires their names and positions listed on the public ACNC Charity Register. Visit this page for more information.
I am not comfortable in providing a bank statement
Because of the ever-growing list of cyber threats impacting Australians, we need to be 100% certain your bank account is correct during our approval process. During this process, we simply verify that the bank account details are held by the onboarding entity to ensure donations reach the intended organisation. Your bank statement must include the BSB, account number, account holder’s name and account holder’s address, on a bank letterhead document listing the financial institution, its details, and its logo. Transactions and balances are not required and may be covered.
I am receiving an error when trying to upload the proof of ID
Please ensure all empty text boxes denoted with an asterisk (*) are filled, and that you’re selecting the Position of the individual from the drop-down selection box. For other enquiries (like file errors), please email email@example.com with a screenshot of the error (if possible), and our support team will be happy to help.
What if my school has a centralised bank account?
The centralised bank account for both Tasmanian and New South Wales Government Schools has been previously verified. To ensure funds are recognised by the Shared Services Team, please provide your School Code in the account number section.
- Tasmania: list three zeros in front of your School Code
- New South Wales: list two zeros in front of your School Code
What is Deductible Gift Receipt (DGR) status?
If your organisation is registered for DGR status, this must be noted on the receipt provided to the donor at the time of the donation. Visit https://abr.business.gov.au/Help/DGR to check your DGR status using your ABN.
What is Donee Status?
In New Zealand, some donations are eligible to provide a tax offset to the donor. If your organisation is eligible for donee status, this must be noted on the receipt provided to the donor at the time of the donation. Including a donee signature on the bottom of a receipt is required by the Inland Revenue Department. Visit this page to check if your organisation is a donee organisation and for more information.
